Ringing in the new year means many of us are looking to make some big changes in our lives. This is the time when we start a new diet, implement a new exercise program, plan a new home project or make financial goals.
There are several blogs, articles and websites dedicated to helping people turn their resolutions into goals. While I think that is important, there is something closer to my heart.
After spending years as a designer invited into people’s most intimate spaces, such as bathrooms, bedrooms and offices, I've come to realize that no matter where you are in your life getting your home in order is critical to the success of your personal life, your family and your business. A good home foundation is the basis for everything in your life to flourish. In short, home is where it all begins.
From a very young age I learned that your personal space affects your self worth and feeling of accomplishment. No matter where you live right now, your environment greatly impacts your success and sense of well being.
Often times I see people put off their home life because of budgetary restraints, but now really is the time to set goals, decide what it is you really want and get resourceful.
Sometimes it's the smallest changes that have the biggest impact on our lives. Alterations to your personal space don't have to cost a lot of money or be a huge project. It could be as simple as rearranging the furniture in your living room or removing the television from your bedroom.
The main idea is to create an environment you and your family will love coming home to each day. Design your living space that reflects what matters to you and the family that you are.
It is my belief that focusing on your living space will in turn add a level of comfort and happiness in life.
I wish the best for you and your family in the new year.
