Creative Ideas For Holiday Cards

In the digital age, it is always a warm fuzzy feeling to receive a brightly colored Christmas card in the mail rather than the inbox.

Each card contains a sentiment about the joy and cheer of the season as seen through their eyes and, usually, a  small heartfelt message about what you mean to them.

Often times, these tokens of goodwill end up in a pile, displayed on the mantle or taped around a doorway.  Why stop there? These festive notes can double as beautiful decorations around your home.

Card Centerpieces
Spread holiday cheer with a DIY centerpiece using items you have in the yard.  Fill a pitcher or vase with twigs or small fallen tree limbs.  Add some decorative ribbon and leftover bulbs for a bit more flair.  Then, using bulb hangers or binder clips, attach your holiday cards, such as this display from Better Homes & Gardens.

Holiday Card Wreath
Turn your favorite holiday cards into a beautiful wreath arrangement.  Buy gluing or taping your favorite cards into a circle and applying a bow, you now have a festive arrangement brimming with sentiment for the hallway, entryway or living room.

Christmas Card Ornaments
Use your season's greetings from friends and family to decorate your tree. Simply punch a hole into the top of the card and hang with a ribbon.  You can add a ribbon border or string beads onto the ribbon for an added festive touch, such as this example from Better Homes & Garden.

Christmas Cards as Wall Art

Get crafty and turn an empty wall into an artful display of your holiday wishes from others.  Hang ribbon down the wall an attached cards using brads, decorated clothes pins or even tape.  For added festive flair, hang the cards so they create a Christmas Tree, Snowman or even a snowflake, such as this one from HomeLife.com.au.

These are just a few ideas to help you spread holiday cheer with the season's greetings given to you.  Get creative and let us know how you are displaying your holiday cards or up-cycling old cards for new use.
