Extra Seating Ideas for the Holidays

Who doesn't need extra chairs at the holidays? Pull one up or a bunch. Seat the whole gang. You can be creative cobbling a table together, but it's harder to find suitable substitutes for chairs.

And to save space, I love to have a few stacking chairs around. You can store four or more chairs in the same footprint as one. My favorite of all of them are chairs that go indoors or out. Wood, plastic or metal, take your pick! Most stacking chairs are quite modern. If you lean toward the traditional, look for outdoor furniture. Pottery Barn's "Chatham" outdoor stacking dining chairs (shown here) look great in solid mahogany, are inexpensive and would work with many decor styles. Comfy cushions are sold separately.

Like wood but want something sleek and sexy? Target's "Modern" stacking chair comes in a bunch of great colors! And, they're inexpensive. They're not intended for outdoor use, but they'd probably be fine as long as they're not outside for long, or in bad weather.

DWR's stacking chair collection is super modern and goes from clear acrylic to wood and metal. This handsome "Lisboa Side Chair" red chair looks like it's wood but it's actually plastic! It comes in black or white as well and there is an armchair version, too.

Until next time!

"Not only are these sheets amazingly luxurious to sleep on but they also don't need pressing to look nice and crisp. I’m ordering another set!"
