Design Tips: DIY Concrete Landscape Ornaments

There is still plenty of summer left... weatherwise at least. Especially around the Pacific Northwest, when we usually have amazing sunny weather through at least the first half of October. Perfect weather to do some work outdoors!

The ground is way too hard and dry to plant anything, but it's fine to pull weeds. And build some of your own concrete yard ornaments. Better Homes and Gardens website,, recently published a fascinating how-to article, "Cast in Stone, DIY Landscape Accent" that outlines building attractive concrete spheres, planters, stepping stones and more!

The planters and spheres especially caught my eye. I'm going to dig out some old storage containers, or maybe go to Goodwill to look for some nicely shaped wastebaskets, bins or something like that to make some planters!

Check out the article. They've assembled some inspirational "after" photos as well as easy step by step instructions. What fun!

Until next time!
