Freshen Up Your Bathroom

Decorate Your Bathroom on a Budget
Did you know that the average bathroom remodel costs upwards of $10,000? But it doesn't have to break the bank.  With a little investment and some ingenuity, you can make a big impact on your bathroom without spending a lot of money. Jennifer Adams has a few tips to help you freshen up the bathroom in your home.

As with every room in your home, it is important to pick a theme and stick to it.  Whether it is spa, ocean or floral theme, incorporate elements throughout the room and into the overall look and feeling.

Balance and Contrast Bathroom Decor
While it may not be feasible to change your bathroom hardware, it is easy to accessorize and balance the room with other metals or textures.  For instance, use bronze to offset the shiny silver metal hardware by incorporating it through the room.  Use the contrasting metal for soap dispensers, tissue boxes and even the cotton ball holder.  It will add depth and warmth to the room while giving it a touch of character.

Use a shower curtain that conveys your theme and coordinates well with the shower or wall color. A simple hotel-style fabric curtain with a chrome rod works well, is machine washable and inexpensive. Keep it open, and you’ll see into shower, thus making the room look bigger.

Don't be afraid to bring in furniture or items from other areas of the house, if you have the space.  A bench or ottoman and an area rug can help further your theme while adding a touch of comfort to the bathroom.  Books or a gratitude journal can be an excellent way to start your day with a positive thought or a smile.

The walls are an easy way to maximize your theme while adding a personalized touch.  Use family vacation photos, wedding pictures or even purchased wall art to add a unique look to the room.  One option is to transfer your photos to canvas before hanging.  It is surprisingly affordable to do and gives your images a painting texture.

DIY Wall Art for Bathrooms
Replacing your showerhead isn't a huge money investment and it will give new life to your daily routine. For a bold, modern look think square. Square and rectangular shapes are the current trends for shower, faucets, toilets and even the drains.

These are all easy ways to make a big impact in your bathroom for an affordable price.
