Design Tips: DIY Creative Outdoor Spaces

It's summertime! Just in time for the 4th of July, Better Homes and Gardens' website recently published a series of articles called "Take Your Decor Outdoors!" about how to create some wonderful spaces.

Fixed up porches, garages and sheds... furnished with pieces that look like they should be indoors. As long as the weather is really nice, many things can tolerate a little outdoor air for a day or two. After long, however, the sun can fade bright colors in fabric and finishes unless they're designed for outdoors.

Scour garage sales, vintage shops or even your own basement for pretty and functional pieces. Repaint or recover with this season's hot bright, bright, bright colors. Add fabric... drape panels at the edge of the porch to add shade and movement. Throw pillows, dishes, glassware, and other accessories complete the look for a fun, festive new room.

Happy 4th everyone!
