'Year of the Dragon' Mean Year of the Home?

Are you feeling the urge to redecorate your home? You may not be alone.

The Year of the Dragon is generally considered to be the luckiest of the Chinese lunar years. The dragon, the most powerful of the zodiac, is associated with high energy, prosperity and change.

Dragon years, which occur every twelve years and started on February 4th, represent a shift or change - usually to good. For many, this is the year to wed or have a child.

It is those life changing moments, which often lead to new homes or furniture, that may be contributing to a report from International Business Machines (IBM). The company is forecasting "a surge in demand for home furnishings in the second quarter of this year," according to a CNBC article.

The report also pointed out that twelve years ago was a "a banner year for sales of home goods. Growth that year ranked the third highest in a 21-year period, according to John Squire, director of digital marketing and analytics."

But redecorating or adding some furniture doesn't have to break the bank.
