Design Tips: Storage Solutions for your Craft Area

Spring Break! If you got any time off to spend with your kids, what fun. In Portland, it rained the whole time and not only were kids were bouncing off the walls, all the parents were, too. If heading out to the zoo in galoshes and rain gear didn't sound appealing to you, maybe spending an afternoon (or all of them) with some fun crafting activities.

After a week of intensive use, all those scraps of colored paper, glitter, glue, fabric, scissors, string and everything else deserve a rest. Why not craft your own clever storage for it all?

Better Homes and Gardens' website recently published a fun article, "Ultimate Craft Organization Solutions." They've made creating handy and organized storage for crafting supplies a fun project all by itself. An array of hooks hold shiny buckets, one for each type of supply, is not only a great way to store stuff, it is also decor!

Got an old suitcase or bin? Corral your craft stuff in that. It can stay under the bed. Pull it out when you want it, store after clean-up.

What about dedicating an underused closet to a crafting corner? OK, I don't have an underused closet either. Next best is a desk, shelves, freestanding cabinet or armoire that you can have fun decorating as you like.

Repurpose something you already own, or look for a piece of furniture that has lots of drawers or doors so you can close it all up in a hurry.

Check out the article for more fun ideas. Best of all, theses ideas are good for your sewing area, scrap booking supplies, painting or many other hobbies.

Until next time!
