Design Tips: Color Trends - Fall 2012!

Announcing Color Trends for Fall 2012! Pantone LLC is the world authority of color in many industries including graphic arts, printing, fashion, textiles, plastics and many others.

They've unveiled what they believe will be the popular colors for fall. The fashion industry usually leads the charge, picking up the boldest, newest and riskiest colors first. Other industries take a "wait and see" approach, watching what colors seem to have a little more staying power. That's why you see the hot new colors a little later in interiors and on cars than on the runway.

Pantone's Fall 2012 predictions include complex but bright, bold, clear colors, seemingly inspired by the happy 1950's and '60's colors. Generally less earthy and cooler in hue than colors have been. "Tangerine Tango" is Pantone's Color of the Year, is a fabulous bright reddish orange, not food-oriented and much less spicy than seasons past.

"Ultramarine Green" and "Olympian Blue" are the coolest colors and "Honey Gold" is the only color of the collection you'd likely see on your dinner plate. "Titanium" and "French Roast" keeps the palette grounded. "Rose Smoke" is a lovely warm pinkish neutral, and the soft "Rhapsody" lavendar color both balance the other colors' boldness.

Check out Pantone's site, they've archived past seasons and have great stories to tell of designer inspiration and imagery.
