Design Tips: Color Trends - The New Blue

Blue is still hot. Actually, blue has never ever been out! All summer, blues have been cool, bright and light: aquamarine, turquoise and pale sky blues mixed with oranges, yellows and white. For fall, blue is still bright but goes darker.

We are seeing lots of lapis lazuli, sapphire, denim and deep cobalt blue mixed with whites in textiles or on their own in glassware and ceramics. Blues with browns are also popular combinations for higher-ticket items like upholstery and rugs.

Do your own drapes, throw pillows or bedspreads in denim. As durable as it is for your jeans, denim holds up well for wash-and-go style for your bed or family room!

Use these beautiful blues as accents in a lighter neutral room, or go all out with paint to match for a comfortable, casual richness that’s sure to please.

Until next time!
