Design Tips – Cool Stools!

End table, art or seating, you choose it. Store them in an odd corner, in front of a fireplace or under a table. These sturdy stools are as useful as they are charming! Pull them out when you need a place for your feet as an ottoman or an extra landing place for reading material or a drink. They take up very little floor space, and they are ready whenever you are.

Bright colors or subdued black or white, these sleek sculptural pieces, the “Left Twist Cube” designed by Frank Gehry, are useful indoors or out. Made by Heller as a single piece of weatherproof polymer and sold at quality retailers such as DWR and Hive, they retail for $250 each. Scatter throughout your garden, patio or living room for maximum effect!

Here’s a handsome block of sustainable plantation grown teak designed by Rama Watana. Group two or more as a bench or coffee table… three in a row or a block of four.

These will need to be oiled periodically to retain the warm tones. These are suitable for indoor use or a well-protected space outdoors, though I wouldn’t let them sit outside in the weather. DWR carries this piece, too, and sells it for around $398.

It doesn’t get more minimal than this one. A perfect cube rendered in clean stainless steel. Maybe it might be a bit chilly as a seat, it is one of the coolest end tables around. This cube is made by Gus* and is retailing for around $700 or so. Dealers include Hip Furniture in Portland OR.
