Congratulations go to our friends Jim Staicoff, of Staicoff Design Company and Dardi Troen of Ditroen, both Portland, Oregon firms! Along with two other talented firms, they helped design one of ten fabulous dining rooms showcased for a charity event during a local home show that took place this last weekend, Sept. 30-Oct. 3, 2010.
“The Serving Up Style competition is part of the Autumn Home and Garden Show, at the Expo Center this [past] weekend. Ten interior designers were invited to construct and design rooms, with gifted items within the rooms available for auction. This all benefits Molly's Fund Fight Against Lupus, a disease which affects 9 times as many men as women. This is a cause dear to my family, as Carol's sister has had Lupus since she was 16.
This design was a result of a wonderful collaboration between four local design firms: Staicoff Design Company was responsible for overall team coordination and all interior design; Made Studio constructed the walnut furniture and chandelier; Dardi Troen of Ditroen was my concept partner and designed the custom wallpaper; and Em Space designed the paper sculpture on the rear wall. As beautiful as it is, if you look closely you can see if is actually made from paper plates - a lovely example of taking an ordinary object and making something extraordinary out of it.”
Until next time!
