This week I’m focusing on decorating both the exterior and interior. When gardening with my friend the other week I realized what a great addition a pot or planter could be to a room or porch. They can bring color and texture to anywhere a pot can be placed. Have fun experimenting different plant species and flowering vs grasses and leaf based plants. A variety of options are easily available at your local garden center or yard section of larger chains such as Lowe’s (http://4ze.us/Wr6) or The Home Depot (http://4ze.us/tpF) will have plants readily available. Wherever you go make sure to take full advantage of the expertise of those working at the store. They are a great resource and can clue even an amateur gardener in on some of the tricks the pros use.

Beyond just arranging the plants in the pots, another way to get creative is to find fun pots and interesting things to do with them. This photo from Positively Patio (http://4ze.us/ZFk) is a great example of how some smaller pots can be mounted on a window grate to create a colorful additions to a wall. In many Europe there are many examples of pots being
placed into the wall and when I visited Córdoba, Spain I saw walls like this (http://4ze.us/SvB). In these cases though, the pots were actually placed in the wall where cracks were already formed as a method of fixing the wall until eventually the wall would be completely covered.I hope this has inspired you to go and get your hands dirty and your home colorful. Until next week!
