Recently I had the honor of attending a presentation of Hartmann & Forbes’ new line of window coverings Liniedge (www.hfshades.com/collections/the-liniedge-collection). The collection is inspired by traditional materials and methods from around the globe. In addition Hartmann & Forbes is ecofriendly and respectful of the cultures of the weavers. Each covering is custom woven to the exact specifications ordered. This attribute allows the coverings to have a lovely loom-finished edge that doesn’t require any extra hemming. On top of that the drapes can be up to 158” wide and have a relatively short lead time of 6-8 weeks.
The line is made largely from grasses and bamboo which connect with the ancient traditions of many cultures, although some variation in color may also occur. Each window covering is woven abroad and then shipped to the United States to be customized and made into the finished blinds. When the material arrives it is examined to make sure that it matches the coloration of the samples provided. If a slight variation on shade is desired, the company will work to make your order match as closely as possible. Bamboo is more difficult to predict in terms of color, so keep that in mind when planning your order.
Hartmann & Forbes sells only to those within the industry, but anyone can go online and look at their website which is full of great information (www.hfshades.com). For your next redecoration keep Hartmann & Forbes in mind and suggest Liniedge or any of their other great lines to your interior decorator. The customer service is great and they will use outside material so any idea you have will be fulfilled to the best of their ability. See you next week!
